Dynamic Forecast Video Project
The brief: create a 20-second video spot that plays on internal communication channels for a client's corporate campus…but make it dynamically react to real-time weather data to show the actual weather conditions outside! The solution: making 7 identical videos showing an outdoor scene, each showing a different weather type, and then use a weather API to trigger the correct video to play, along with updating the text area to show the real-time temperature and air quality.
To make this happen, I used every tool in my kit: custom 3D geometry and simulations, hand-painted textures, a cel-animated waterfall, illustrated matte painting, and vector animated elements…everything and the kitchen sink went into this. But the final result is something that I was proud to put my name on, and the client was over the moon about. The video above shows a small selection of each video in a 20-second montage.
